ArtWalk Weekend 2014
10th Anniversary

OCTOBER 17 - 18 - 19

FANCY FRIDAY

ArtWalk Weekend kicks off on October 17 with the second annual ArtWalk Fancy Friday.

Fancy Friday is a Nashua tradition organized by City Arts Nashua board member Paul Shea, designed for fancy fun and fundraising. It is a chance to get dressed up and go out on the town with your friends and other like-minded people.

Participating restaurants, offering specials and no cover with a wristband, include:

  • Margarita’s
  • Fody’s Tavern
  • Riverwalk Café and Music Bar
  • San Francisco Kitchen
  • Agave Azul
  • Old Amsterdam

A $10 wristband gets you into all the activities. Proceeds from ArtWalk Fancy Friday benefit the programs, projects, and publicity for the arts by City Arts Nashua.

The fun begins at Margarita’s where wristbands will be available from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. The Hunt Memorial Building will be open from 7 pm to 9:30 pm and will feature free portraits for participants by Studio Mark Emile, and an Oh So Fancy Silent Auction where you can bid on items including artwork, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to plays and concerts, and one of Alderman Diane Sheehan’s renowned hats:

The Oh So Fancy Silent Auction

October 17, 2014 - Hunt Memorial Building
7 pm until 9 pm

We are grateful to all the donors who have generously given items to make your life much Fancier. All proceeds will go to City Arts Nashua.

Fancy Floral Prints
Two beautiful floral prints in complementary green mats will fancy up any décor in any room. The prints are signed by the late artist Carl Ripaldi. Donated by Carla Ripaldi Sullivan.
Value:  $50

The Hat’s the Thing
Donated by Diane Sheehan, often seen in the Aldermanic Chamber wearing her Fancy headgear, you too can wear with flair one of her fabulous Fancy hats, this one in flame red with black accents. Bid high because this truly is one of her favorites (she shed an alligator tear when she donated it).
Value:  Priceless

Best Face Forward
Ladies, this Elizabeth Grady Signature Facial would be the perfect way to pamper yourself. Gentlemen, your winning high bid will be a great gift for the woman in your life, or for yourself if you are in the mood to be really Fancy. This was a popular item at last year’s auction. Donated by Elizabeth Racioppi, Chair of the Nashua Arts Commission.
Value:  $80

Bah, Humbug
Bid high and you and a companion can enjoy an original adaptation and staging of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol by Peacock Players’ artistic director Keith Weirich. The production features music, traditional carols, period dancing with a cast including more than youth players – parents, family members, staff, resident artists, instructors and local celebrities. Very Fancy.
Value:  $34

They’re Creepy and they’re Kooky
Win two tickets to see the very macabre and weird, but highly Fancy Morticia Addams and the rest of her strange and spooky family deal when the Fancy Princess of Darkness Wednesday falls in love with a “normal” boy in Peacock Players November rendition of the Addams Family Musical. Thank you, Peacock Players.
Value:  $34

Bring Out Your Artiste
You think you have no artistic talent? Think again. Win a gift certificate for two to Nashua’s Graffiti Paintbar, and find out how easy it is to paint a great picture Fancy enough to hang at your home, while enjoying your favorite beverage. Donated by Graffiti Paintbar.
Value:  $78

Music in the Air
Win two Orchestra tickets to any of Symphony NH’s 2014-15 Masterworks Concerts and see, and be seen with Nashua’s other music lovers. Whatever you think is Fanciest – The Art of Color on Nov. 22, Beethoven Forever of January 24, A Better Life on March 14 or Top form on April 25. You also will receive a CD of Symphony NH performances when you want a Fancy evening at home. Donated by Symphony NH.
Value:  $70

Putting on the Ritz
We all remember that famous number from Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks. What could be Fancier? See for yourself if you are the high bidder on two tickets for this monstrously funny and Fancy production in November. Donated by The Actorsingers.
Value:  $40

Winter Wonderland
For the highest bid you can impress your friends with a box of the best holiday cards in town featuring Nashua’s Fanciest downtown landmark, the Hunt Memorial Building, in an art-quality reproduction of Joyce Kingman’s watercolor “Winter Holiday Stroll,” which won first prize at the 2003 Winter Holiday Stroll Art Contest. Donated by the Trustees of the Hunt Memorial Building.
Value:  $40

A Trip to the Park
The highest bidder can take a friend to the Hunt Memorial Building, Nashua’s fanciest small theater venue to see Clybourne Park in February by Nashua’s fanciest small theater company, Artists Collective Theatre (ACT). Written by Bruce Norris, the play is a response to Raisin in the Sun.
Value:  $40

It’s Raining It’s Pouring
Our fancy friends at Artists Collective Theatre (ACT) have donated tickets for two to see Three Days of Rain by Richard Greenberg in April. Appropriate. April showers bring May flowers. Bring a fancy umbrella and get in the mood. The playwright says he was influenced by the BBC’s Fancy Forsyte Saga and was nominated for the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Can’t get much Fancier.
Value:  $40

Small Plates Big Flavors
There’s nothing Fancier than stopping into a great tapas bar for a variety of meticulously prepared tastes from around the world, combining great food with a well-made drink and enjoying live music. The winning bidder will receive a gift certificate for the best tapas in town. Donated by Stella Blu.
Value:  $25

After the auction, end the night from 10 pm until close at Old Amsterdam, with a sneak preview of the work photographer Anthony Grassetti will be showing and selling during ArtWalk.

We are grateful to the generosity of our Fancy Friday sponsors:
